The patient was place in the spinal tap position, and the lumbar area was sterilized. An epidural needle was advanced into the L4 space, 2% Lidocaine was injected, and an epidural catheter was placed: 1.5 cc of 6% phenol was injected into the space. The catheter was removed, and the wound site was dressed. The patient was sent to the recovery area.
