The first car drove 35 gallons.

The second car used 15 gallons.

35 miles x 35 gallons = 1,225 miles (First car)

20 miles x 15 gallons = 300 miles (Second car)

1,225 miles + 300 miles = 1525 miles (Total amount driven)

Hope this helps.
