Explanation:

The cube root is the same as an exponent of 1/3

[tex]\sqrt[3]{x} = x^{1/3}[/tex]

Multiply this exponent 1/3 by the other exponents 5 and 1/4 to get

(1/3)*5*(1/4) = (1/3)*(5/1)*(1/4) = (1*5*1)/(3*1*4) = 5/12

which is the final exponent. The base 2 stays the same the entire time.
