Ellis Island and Angel Island are similar in that both served as immigration stations for new immigrants. Angel Island served as an immigration station for immigrants mostly from China and other Asian countries. In contrast Ellis Island served as an immigration station for immigrants which mostly came from European countries. Ellis Island was closed in 1952 and Angel Island in 1940 in serving as an immigration station for new immigrants.
