Lets say that Jason's age is X, and his brother's age is Y.

We know that X + Y = 55.

We also know that (X + 7) = Y.

This means (X + 7) + Y = 62 (We got the 62 by adding 55 and 7)

Anyway if X+7= Y, and X+7 + Y = 62, then X+7 = 62/2, right?

We divide the 62 by 2 and we get 31.

Alright, so X+7 = 31.

substract both sides by 7.

We get X = 24
