The war made a HUGE impact on the South's economy. It caused it to decrease tremendously. This was because so much destruction had been brought to the south. For example, Sherman's March messed all of the Low Country of South Carolina up. So, South Carolina had to pay war repairs. The repairs were so costly it put the South in a lot of debt.
