1. If the sequence is arithmetic to find the needed value we have to know the common difference which is 6.
Then we have
 the [tex]3y+ 5 = 14 y = 3[/tex]term = 14
2. If the sequence was geometric we had to know the common ratio = 8/2 = 4
So the answer is :
[tex]3y + 5 = 32 3y = 27 y = 9[/tex]
