PN = PM

6x + 1 = 10x - 17

Add both sides 17

6x + 1 + 17 = 10x - 17 + 17

6x + 18 = 10x

Subtract both sides 6x

6x - 6x + 18 = 10x - 6x

18 = 4x

Divide both sides by 4

18 ÷ 4 = 4x ÷ 4

9/2 = x

x = 9/2

___________________________

QN = 2x + 5

QN = 2 × ( 9/2 ) + 5

QN = 9 + 5

QN = 14
