Erosion

Explanation:

Erosion is the withering away of rocks due to natural elements( wind, water etc.)

So for example the grand canyon. It was formed over years by a river that washed against the rocks causing small parts of the rock to fall off or to wither away. So because of erosion a large rock could become significantly smaller over many years.
