eliminate one of the variables..

2x + 2y = 28

2x = -2y + 28

8x - 2y= 22

8x = 2y + 22
x = 0.25y + 2.75

combine equations...

-y +14 = 0.25y + 2.75

solve for the variable..

-y - 0.25y = 2.75 - 14
-1.25y = -11.25
y = 9

replace y with 9 in previous equation..

x = -y + 14
x = -9 + 14
x = 5

so y = 9 and x = 5

I hope I did that right good luck!
