Do the brackets first so - 4+17 = 13 and - 3-3 = -6
So you now have - 8+[(13)-(-6)]
Then you simplify the brackets so 13--6 = 13+6 =19
So you have - 8+(19) = - 8+19 = 11
So the answer is 11
