The slope intercept form of equation is given as

(y - y1) = m(x - x1)

Where m = slope

From the equation: y + 5 = 2(x + 8)

Equate y + 5 = 0 and x + 8 = 0

y + 5 = 0

y = 0- 5

y = -5

For x + 8 = 0

x + 8 = 0

x = 0 - 8

x = -8

Hence, the point is (-8, -5)

The answer is (-8, -5)
