2) the difference is 5

So, let the numbers are (x) and (y)

From the first constraint ⇒ x + y = 12

From the second constraint ⇒ x - y = 5

So, we can draw the following lines

As shown the point of intersection between the lines = (8.5, 3.5)

So, the answer will be the numbers pair = 3.5 and 8.5
