The Formula is; F = ma; where F is the resultant force, m is the mass and a is the acceleration.

  • The second Newton's Law of motion states that the resultant force of a body or object in motion is directly proportional to the rate of change in momentum.
  • Mathematically;  F = (mv-mu)/t
  • This can be expressed as; F = m(v-u)/t
  • but (v-u)/t is the acceleration;
  • Therefore, the equation becomes; F = ma, where F is the resultant force, m is the mass and a is the acceleration.
