An evergreen tree is a tree that stay green year round.

This is an appropriate name for the tree because even in the winter time when there are harsh temperatures, the tree has all of its leaves and is still green.

Most conifers are green all year and by keeping their leaves instead of regrowing them every year these plants save a tremendous amount of energy.
