If f(x) = 2x + 1
let y = 2x + 1
so an easy way to find the inverse is to switch your x and y then make y the subject of the equation so lets do that
let x = 2y + 1
by transposition
x -1 = 2y
[tex] \frac{x - 1}{2} = y[/tex]
∴ if h(x) is the inverse of f(x) then
h(x) = [tex]y = \frac{x - 1}{2}[/tex]
not that that is the same as y = 0.5x - 0.5
