One side is 16cm, divide by two to get 8cm which is the diameter of one circle.
Divide 8 by two again to get radius and use
[tex] \pi r^{2} [/tex]
[tex] \pi * 4^{2} [/tex] = 50.3
Times 50.3 by four to get area of circles, = 201.2.
Do 16 * 16 (area of square) = 256,
256 - 201.2 = (area of white) 54.8
The area of the white is 54.8.

Hope this helps.
