You have centimeters. To convert to inches you're going to have to multiply by a factor that is inches divided by centimeters. Just like fractions, numerators cancel denominators.

(x centimeter)*(r inche/centimeter) = x*r (centimeter * inche / centimeter) = x*r inches

[r = 1/2.54 inche/centimeter = 0.39370 inch/centimeter]

14 cm * 0.39370 in/cm = 0.39370*14 cm*in/cm = 5.512 in
