Let the two numbers be x and y with x being the larger number.

Given,

x + y = 39

x = 39 - y

Also given,

x = 2y - 15

39 - y = 2y - 15

3y = 54

y = 18

x = 39 - y = 39 - 18 = 21

Hence, the two numbers are 21 and 18.
