The British colonists found that the acts passed by Prime Minister Grenville were unfair because they were passed without the consent of the citizens. This caused colonists to fight against his rule, using the popular phrase "no taxation without representation."  This concept of taxing individuals without consent is seen in both the Sugar Act and Stamp Act. These were two wildly unpopular taxes put on the colonists, who revolted against both taxes.
