x=5 and y=2
2x + y + -2x = 12 + -2x
y = -2x + 12
7x - 27 = 31 (we are substituting here for the y)
11x - 24 = 31
11x - 24 + 24 = 31 + 24
11x = 55
x = 5

y=-2x+12
y=(-2)(5)+12
y=2
