If your teacher taught rise over run, then for the graphs:
y=-1/2x+1
start at y intercept of 1, then down 1, right 2 all the way, same for the other side but reversed.
y= 1/3+6
start at y intercept of 6, then up 1, right 3 all the way, same for the other side but reversed.
